Toby Fox's independent hit Deltarune has sold more copies than some of Nintendo's first-party Switch 2 games, analyst firm Newzoo reports.

Newzoo's latest sales report takes a closer look at game sales during the Switch 2's launch. According to the data, Deltarune was a surprise breakout hit on the Switch 2's eShop. The pixelated indie RPG led the charge in digital unit sales, beating out other popular games like Mario Kart World, Minecraft, and No Man's Sky.
"Deltarune, from the creators of Undertale, led digital unit sales. Chapters 1 and 2 were free-to-play, and the complete release of all 4 chapters across platforms (including Switch 2) saw strong uptake on Nintendo's eShop," Newzoo writes in the report.
"Deltarune led in digital units sold, even ahead of Mario Kart World in the eShop channel, a result likely influenced by Mario Kart World's strong presence in physical bundle sales."

The data is based on estimates and not confirmed sales, and only includes six markets, excluding Asian regions--US, UK, Germany, France, Spain, and Italy are included in the report. The numbers are also based on digital sales only and do not include physical copies--for reference, Nintendo game sales skew heavily towards physical.
Nintendo has yet to confirm exact game sales, but every quarter the company gives an update to its 10 best-selling games as well as first-party game sales revenues.
Early analyst data shows that the Switch 2 is the fastest-selling video games console of all time in the United States, beating out the PS4's launch sales.
