Julian LeFay, one of the original designers of The Elder Scrolls series and more recently The Wayward Realms, has revealed a battle with terminal cancer.

Elder Scrolls godfather Julian LeFay has silently been fighting cancer for years now, and the RPG developer has now broken silence to share the news with the community.
"Our technical producer, Julian LeFay, has been fighting a battle with cancer for the last several years. He's fought bravely and strongly, but it seems he doesn't have very much time left," OnceLost Games CEO, and LeFay's close friend, Ted Peterson said in a recent video.
"He has stepped away from that project to spend his remaining time with his family and loved ones. We don't want to focus on the loss, but rather celebrate the last.
"We'll have more details on how it affects the project but do rest assured that it is something that we've been preparing for. Julian has made his vision for the game very clear to the team and we will work tirelessly to bring that vision to life."
Joining Bethesda in the late 80s, LeFay helped create pivotal games like Terminator 2029, and four Elder Scrolls games: Arena, Daggerfall, Battlespire, and to a much lesser extent, Morrowind. He left Bethesda in 1998, and then co-founded a game studio in 2019 called OnceLost Games. The studio's first project will be The Wayward Realms, a new RPG that hearkens back to the Daggerfall days.
LeFay is commemorated in the Elder Scrolls series through the in-game deity Julianos, which is modeled after his real-world likeness. A statue of Julianos can be found in Oblivion remastered by the chapel in Skingrad.
