The launch of the desktop GeForce RTX 5050, starting from $249, is the latest NVIDIA launch where review samples were not sent to the media and press ahead of time. At TweakTown, we're in the process of arranging a sample; however, the first RTX 5050 review has already appeared online, courtesy of the Korean outlet Quasar Zone.

The review covers the custom COLORFUL GeForce RTX 5050 ULTRA OC White model, paired with an AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D processor and 32GB of DDR5 memory. With 15 games tested at 1080p, the review compares the RTX 5050's performance to a wide range of entry-level and mainstream GPUs.
Across the 15 titles, the GeForce RTX 5050's performance is within 6.2% of the RTX 4060, while it falls short (2.6%) of the similarly priced Intel Arc B580 'Battlemage' GPU. It's worth highlighting that the Intel Arc B580, although slightly faster than the RTX 5050, also ships with 50% more VRAM, featuring 12GB of faster GDDR6 memory.

The games tested encompass a diverse range of genres, including Overwatch 2, Diablo 4, Forza Horizon 5, Cyberpunk 2077, Black Myth: Wukong, PUBG, and Call of Duty: Black Ops 6. As the GeForce RTX 5050 is built on the latest RTX Blackwell architecture, the review also highlights that with the new Multi Frame Generation, it outperforms the GeForce RTX 4060 and RTX 4060 Ti.

The review also notes that the GeForce RTX 5050 is 13.4% faster for 1080p gaming than the GeForce RTX 3060, NVIDIA's popular mainstream GPU, which is the only mainstream GeForce RTX GPU with 12GB of VRAM. The GeForce RTX 5050 is also faster than the GeForce RTX 2070 SUPER GPU from the Turing era. Be sure to check out the full review for more charts and benchmark comparisons.
