Apple's ultra-thin iPhone 17 Air teased in iOS 26 Beta 2: 6.6-inch display at 2736 x 1260 res

Apple's new ultra-thin iPhone 17 Air has surfaced with new details inside of the iOS 26 Beta 2, teasing a 6.6-inch display size and more information regarding the native resolution.

The new iPhone 17 Air ultra-thin smartphone has been teased inside of iOS 26 Beta 2, confirming that the 6.6-inch display should have a native resolution of 2736 x 1260, something that isn't seen on other iPhones on the market. MacWorld found that there's a new version of the iconic clownfish wallpaper inside of iOS 26 Beta 2, with a resolution of "420x912x3" which will deliver a 2736 x 1260 resolution.

With this pixel count, Apple's upcoming iPhone 17 Air points to the 6.6-inch display and its 2736 x 1260 resolution. Previous reports from insider Ming-Chi Kuo stated that the iPhone 17 Air would have a 6.6-inch display size and resolution of 2740 x 1260. The new reveals from iOS 26 Beta 2 show that Kuo was very close to the new information.

In previous rumors, we heard that the new Apple iPhone 17 Air would have a maximum thickness of 9.5mm with the camera bump included, or 5.5mm without the camera bump.

Inside, we should expect a 6.6-inch display, Apple's new in-house A19 processor, 8GB of RAM, a 24-megapixel front-facing camera, 48-megapixel rear-facing camera, Face ID technology, titanium casing, Apple's in-house C1 5G modem, and charging speeds of up to 35W power.

Apple's new iPhone 17 Air will take the ultra-thin smartphone fight to Samsung which has its own Galaxy S25 Edge later this year, with Samsung giving its own (and best) M14 OLED displays to Apple for its new iPhone 17 family, not even using their new in-house M14 OLED panels on its new Galaxy S25 family of smartphones.
