Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile is being shut down after a 14-month run. The game will be delisted from app stores on May 19th, and while servers will remain online, support for the game will be discontinued.
As detailed in a recent X post, the game's discontinuation was announced due to a failure to "meet expectations" with mobile-first players. The wind-down suggests the game underperformed against internal KPIs, particularly in relation to Activision's successful Call of Duty: Mobile, which still maintains a highly active playerbase.
Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile was developed by multiple internal Activision studios, including Solid State Studios and Beenox. The game holds a "generally favorable" 76 on Metacritic, and the game was noted to be "fast-paced and enjoyable". However, the free-to-play FPS was criticised for its connectivity issues, poor frame rates, and glitches.
In that regard, anyone hoping to hang onto Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile will need to download the game before May 19th, when the game is officially pulled from the iOS App Store and Google Play Store. While servers will remain online for Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile, there'll be no more seasonal content or gameplay updates coming to the game.
Those who redeemed COD points in the game can rest assured, as the game supports cross progression with console / PC versions of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III and Warzone.
The studio also says that it has "special incentives" for Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile players on Call of Duty: Mobile. However, noting that Call of Duty: Mobile operates completely separately from the aforementioned titles.
