Mafia: The Old Country is set to arrive on August 8 and we've just been treated to the PC hardware requirements.
Check out the specs your gaming PC will need below, as shared via the game's Steam page (hat tip to Wccftech). Overall, it's not too demanding, except for recommending that you have 32GB of system RAM.
Minimum PC spec (1080p, medium details)
- OS: Windows 10 / 11
- Processor: AMD Ryzen 7 2700X / Intel Core i7-9700K
- Memory: 16GB RAM
- Graphics: AMD Radeon RX 5700 XT / NVIDIA RTX 2070
- Storage: 55GB available space
- Additional Notes: Requires 64-bit processor and operating system; requires SSD
Recommended PC spec (1440p, high details)
- OS: Windows 10 / 11
- Processor: AMD Ryzen 7 5800X / Intel Core i7-12700K
- Memory: 32GB RAM
- Graphics: AMD Radeon RX 6950 XT / NVIDIA RTX 3080 Ti
- Storage: 55GB available space
- Additional Notes: Requires 64-bit processor and operating system; requires SSD
Of course, recommending 32GB of RAM is becoming more commonplace in PC gaming these days, and the minimum spec still lets you get away with 16GB. (Which really is the bare minimum for contemporary gaming - when it comes to a new rig, everyone should be shooting for 32GB in terms of future-proofing at this point).
The recommended GPU being pitched at an RTX 3080 Ti (or RX 6950 XT) is also an element of the spec that some might find challenging if they have a more run-of-the-mill PC.
With Mafia: The Old Country, the franchise is returning to its roots, meaning a linear story-focused and mission-based affair, rather than an open world approach. The latter was tried in Mafia 3, and that outing failed to impress as much as Mafia 1 and 2 as a result.
Many hardcore Mafia fans really didn't like the third instalment, and the Mafia 1 remake for that matter didn't go down well for all the changes it applied to what's regarded as a classic.
There are high hopes for Mafia: The Old Country, and the pricing has come as a pleasant surprise, too, pitched at $50 (for the Standard Edition).
