Samsung is working on its next-gen foldable smartphones, including its new flagship Galaxy Z Fold 7 smartphone which is said to be thinner than expected, at just 3.9mm when unfolded.
In a new post on X by insider @UniverseIce, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 will be 3.9mm when opened and 8.9mm when closed, compared to the previous rumors on the Fold 7, which reported around 4.5mm when opened, and around 9mm to 9.5mm when closed. This is compared to the thinnest foldable smartphone right now with the Oppo Find N5, which is 8.93mm when closed.

On top of that, Samsung is reportedly working on a triple-fold smartphone which will reportedly arrive as the Galaxy G Fold, and should hit the market in Q4 2025. It will be a higher-end foldable, up and above the Galaxy Z Fold range of foldable smartphones, boasting a triple-fold display that will be like holding a huge tablet in your hand, but will fold up three times and fit into your pocket.
Apple has its foldable iPhone Ultra that has been rumored for a while now, with an unveiling this year to compete with Samsung and its Galaxy Z Fold 7 smartphone. The fight of foldable displays continues, with more options and soon a major new player -- Apple -- in the foldable business.
