AMD has launched its third RDNA-powered Radeon RX 9000 Series GPU in Asia, the Radeon RX 9070 GRE (which stands for Great Radeon Edition). In the past, GRE models have traditionally launched in countries like China first before making their way globally months later - case in point, the Radeon RX 7900 GRE.

With the GPU now available in the region, reviews are online detailing its performance compared to new GPUs like the Radeon RX 9070, GeForce RTX 5070, and even the new GeForce RTX 5060 Ti. Per AMD's official product page for the Radeon RX 9070 GRE, which went live last week, the card is, on average, around 6% faster than the Radeon RX 7900 GRE.
According to one review online at Bilibili (via @unikoshardware and Wccftech), which tested 20 games at 1440p, including Cyberpunk 2077, Counter-Strike 2, Call of Duty, Forza Horizon 5, Black Myth: Wukong, F1 24, Resident Evil 4, Monster Hunter: Wilds, and more, we have the following results.

- The Radeon RX 9070 GRE's performance is on par with the Radeon RX 7900 GRE.
- On average, the Radeon RX 9070 GRE is 4.5% slower than the GeForce RTX 5070.
- On average, the Radeon RX 9070 GRE is 15.3% slower than the Radeon RX 9070.
- The Radeon RX 9070 GRE is 27.6% faster than the GeForce RTX 5060 Ti 16GB.
When looking at the individual benchmarks, there's not much separating the Radeon RX 9070 GRE and the GeForce RTX 5070 outside of titles that favor either Radeon or GeForce RTX hardware. Of course, this is one review covering a specific set of games and settings, but seeing the Radeon RX 9070 GRE perform significantly better than the GeForce RTX 5060 Ti 16GB does mean that the upcoming Radeon RX 9060 XT, which is set to be unveiled at Computex 2025, will go head-to-head with the GeForce RTX 5060 Series.
An additional review from Expreview, which is also online over at Bilibili, also shows the Radeon RX 7900 GRE falling behind the GeForce RTX 5070 in most benchmarks, while delivering performance that is around 20-30% faster than the GeForce RTX 5060 Ti 16GB. If AMD prices the upcoming Radeon RX 9060 XT 8GB and 16GB GPUs aggressively, at around $300 and $350, respectively, then this does leave room for the Radeon RX 9070 GRE to make its way to more markets. A Radeon RX 9070 GRE priced at $450 would present a compelling alternative to the GeForce RTX 5070.
