TL;DR: The Apple MacBook Air 13-inch with M4 processor, featuring 16GB RAM and 256GB storage, is now available at a 15% discount, down from $999 to $849, at major US retailers. That represents a tempting bargain indeed for laptop hunters.

This is the MacBook Air 13-inch with M4 processor and of course it's the base model, which normally retails at $999 but can now be had at a few major US retailers for $849. That includes Amazon, Best Buy and B&H as ZDNet flagged up.

Don't forget that you're getting a MacBook which is now equipped with 16GB of RAM (since Apple started upping the entry-level allocation of Unified Memory for Macs in recent history), as well as 256GB of storage.

The star of the show, and the main upgrade here is, of course, the M4 SoC (which Apple famously declared was 23x faster than the last incarnation of the MacBook Air with an Intel CPU).

Shaky comparisons to much older generation hardware aside, this M4-toting laptop is quite the bargain here. Remember that the MacBook Air 13-inch M4 already got a $100 price drop compared to the last generation of this range, and with this extra $150 knocked off, you're looking at a baseline Air laptop that's almost a quarter cheaper.

It's also worth noting that Apple brought in a new 'sky blue' color with the MacBook Air (which was well-received by punters), as well as the ability for the notebook to support up to two 6K external displays.
