AMD RX 9070 GRE rumored for launch, could be a 12GB GPU with 192-bit bus (like the RTX 5070)

AMD's RX 9070 GRE graphics card would seek to be a middle ground between the existing RX 9070 and incoming 9060 models - and would hopefully come to the US.

TL;DR: AMD is rumored to be launching a new RX 9070 GRE graphics card in the Asian market to begin with, but wider availability could come later. There are rumors it'll run with 12GB of video RAM and a 192-bit bus (with the Navi 48 chip, of course). Positioned between the existing RX 9070 models and incoming RX 9060 GPUs, it could be available at some point in Q2.

As the next move with RDNA 4 GPUs, AMD is rumored to be launching a GRE spin on its RX 9070 graphics card.

As you might expect, this is supposedly happening in the Asian market, but if an RX 9070 GRE does indeed end up being realized, there's always a decent chance it could eventually be available in the US and other regions. There's past precedent for that, certainly.

The rumor of the RX 9070 GRE comes from IT Home, a Chinese tech site, as flagged up by VideoCardz, but at this point it remains a relatively flimsy assertion.

We don't have any specs provided for this purported GPU, for instance, but IT Home makes some guesses - namely 12GB of video RAM and a 192-bit bus. It'll use the same Navi 48 chip as the other RX 9070 models.

IT Home backs up its theory by pointing to another report from BenchLife.info (in Taiwan) which reckons that the "Radeon RX 9070 GRE 12GB is currently in the planning of AIB [add-in board] partners," and ready for mass production.

So, it shouldn't be long before we see the end product on shelves over in China, at least in theory, and the 9070 GRE would likely turn up at some point in Q2.

If it pans out, the RX 9070 GRE is going to be pitched as a middle ground between the RX 9070 and the inbound RX 9060 models, the latter of which are also set to debut in Q2, as AMD has already let us know.
