Marvel Rivals is still the hottest hero shooter on the market with over 170,000 active players on Steam. However, at GDC 2025, the game's director acknowledged that there are still ways to go to minimize stress on mid-to-lower-end systems.

In a discussion with PC Gamer, Marvel Rivals director Guangyun Chen highlighted that NetEase will add an experimental check box to the game's launcher, allowing players to 'significantly' reduce memory consumption.
The game's system requirements currently recommend a minimum of 16GB RAM. However, it's widely recognized that the Unreal 5-powered title is a memory hog, often consuming over 90% of RAM. According to Chen, it's not a simple fix, but the team will prioritize it as the game pushes towards its season 2 launch in mid-April.
"It's a very big problem, but it's a lot of work to organize [a fix]. We cannot just release it in a small patch, we have to fully test it. But we realize the problem and we're going to keep optimizing."
Chen also highlighted some of the challenges of working with Unreal 5, citing that while the engine is technically robust, there's plenty of hard work involved with getting optimization up to scratch.
"It's hard for all developers to use the engine and make it good," he said. "It's a new engine for us. We have a lot of hard work [ahead] to optimize it."
Last month, Marvel Rivals received support for DLSS 4, helping ease the burden on NVIDIA RTX cards. In the meantime, players will need to hold out until mid-April, at the earliest, to get their hands on the new fixes.
