New $308 Android gaming handheld has a 120Hz screen and 9300mAh replaceable battery

Indian gaming startup ARC has unveiled the X1, an Android gaming handheld that combines a 120Hz Full HD screen with a 9,300mAh battery and an unusually repair-friendly design.

The device uses Qualcomm's 4nm Snapdragon G2 Gen 2 Gaming Platform, which includes an eight-core Kryo CPU and Adreno A22 GPU. Its single configuration includes 8GB of LPDDR5X memory and 128GB of UFS 3.1 storage, expandable to 1TB via microSD.

Games run on a seven-inch, 1920x1080 LTPS LCD panel rated for 500 nits, meaning it's decently bright and should deliver average handheld image clarity. Controls include TMR analog sticks, Hall-effect triggers with mechanical stops, microswitch face buttons and D-pad, two programmable rear buttons, six-axis motion sensing and dual LRA haptic motors.

ARC's custom OwlOS is based on AOSP and offers a controller-first interface that combines Android games, cloud services and emulators. It includes per-game profiles, control remapping, an FPS overlay, resolution scaling and a Quick Resume system that ARC says can restore a suspended game after a cold boot.

A fan handles cooling, while the 9,300mAh battery supports 27W USB-PD charging. ARC claims more than eight hours in its lowest-power Silent Mode, not eight hours under every gaming workload. USB-C also supports output to external monitors. The company also says owners can replace the battery and joystick modules, with modular daughterboards and spare parts intended to simplify repairs.
