SEGA is teaming up with Netflix to make three major productions, including two films and one TV show. The partnership will include movies based on the beloved classic Crazy Taxi, which is being revived with a new game release.

Netflix will also help produce a film based on SEGA's new IP Stranger Than Heaven, which chronicles Japan across multiple decades (and the game version even stars Tupac Shakur and Snoop Dogg). A new Sonic animated series was part of the order, and that show will be tailored for younger viewers.

SEGA and Netflix today announced a new collaboration to bring a film adaptation of Crazy Taxi to Netflix, with the companies also developing a slate of adaptations from SEGA's catalog including Sonic and STRANGER THAN HEAVEN.

The slate spans genres, styles and formats - live-action comedy, kids' animation and live-action crime - reflecting the range of SEGA's library and drawing on Netflix's experience bringing beloved game worlds to new audiences.

The Crazy Taxi film promises madcap chaos and comedy, and will be written by 2025's The Naked Gun writers Dan Gregor and Doug Mand, with Neal H. Moritz, Toby Ascher, and Toru Nakahara producing.

"We couldn't be more thrilled to continue our longstanding relationship with SEGA and bring Crazy Taxi to life with our partners at Netflix," said Neal H. Moritz and Toby Ascher. "This film is for anyone who's spent hours behind the wheel of a yellow cab on their Dreamcast, with the music cranked up, smashing through everything in sight just to make the next fare."

Netflix has become the de facto network for video game adaptations, with the company producing a myriad of shows and films based on IPs like Assassin's Creed, Gears of War, Cyberpunk 2077, Devil May Cry, and Splinter Cell.
