Many gamers opt for compact sizes not because the NumPad is mostly redundant or unnecessary when you're playing something like Counter-Strike 2, but because they gain extra mousepad real estate for big swings and movement. With its compact 65% size that doesn't waste any space on a dedicated row of Function keys or nice-to-have things like a control knob, the Razer Huntsman V3 HE Magnetic Mini 65% 8KHz's physical design is definitely minimal or 'just the essentials.' As expected, the F1 to F12 keys are mapped as secondary functions to the Number keys, with additional controls covering audio, lighting, and more mapped out intuitively. Secondary functions are printed as legends on the keycaps, which is handy, with the overall layout being one of the best examples of a 65% keyboard we've seen to date. Everything feels like it's in the right place, from the arrow keys to the Delete key.
The build quality is also impressive, even if the overall Huntsman aesthetics haven't really changed much in recent years. The floating-key design is tried and true, and its all-black minimal style comes through thanks to the brushed-metal aluminum alloy top case and premium shine-through doubleshot PBT keycaps. From Counter-Strike 2 to Overwatch to DOOM: The Dark Ages' impressive expansion, the 8K polling and fast 1.2mm actuation point across all keys deliver flawless performance.
