Pulsar makes custom high-performance gaming gear for pro players and anyone who takes competitive gaming seriously, and it's known for premium mice and almost fashion-label-like collaborations with pro players. Noctua, another brand known for its unique visual identity, focuses on cooling and the precision, engineering, and innovation required to take something as seemingly simple as a 120mm fan to the next level. So yeah, Pulsar and Noctua coming together makes sense, even if it's strange that the most notable aspect of the Pulsar Feinmann F01 Noctua Edition Gaming Mouse is the fact that it's a mouse with a fan. A fan designed to keep your palm and click-hand cool.
Setting aside the "sweaty gamer" stereotype associated with PC gaming, if you're a PC gamer, then odds are that your mouse-wielding hand overheating or becoming too sweaty hasn't been a notable issue. As someone who's been jumping online since the days of pointing and clicking on things in StarCraft right through to the intense action of playing Quake 3, the idea of a mouse with a fan does sound like a gimmick. There hasn't really been anything like this before, but going in with an open mind, it's safe to say that having a fan gently blow onto your palm in a warm room can actually be comforting. Doubly so if you're now on hour three of a gaming session that started with Diablo 4 and ended up in Overwatch.
Although it's not without its shortcomings, which can almost always be traced back to the engineering challenge of adding a fan inside the shell of a competitive mouse, the design of the Pulsar Feinmann F01 Noctua Edition Gaming Mouse more than lives up to its premium feel, price tag, and collaboration. From Pulsar's XS-2 Flagship Sensor to the alloy scroll wheel to the innovative and cleverly designed dongle that we'd love to see copied by, well, everyone, there's a lot to like.

Noctua is known not only for high-performance fans and other cooling products, but also for fans that are generally silent, with no hum or rattle. Starting with the Pulsar Feinmann F01 Noctua Edition Gaming Mouse's most notable characteristic: its fan, it features a custom 40x10mm NF-A4x10 5V PWM fan that delivers all the premium goodness you'd expect from a Noctua fan, albeit in a smaller form factor. It's a tiny fan with reference-grade SSO2 bearings (self-stabilizing oil-pressure), Flow Acceleration Channels for improved efficiency and lower noise, and a compact motor design that doesn't sacrifice airflow or pressure. With support for multiple speed options, it does an impressive job circulating air across the entire mouse, from your fingertip to your palm, and remains quiet - as expected. Now, you can hear the fan at maximum speed, but it's still a far cry from loud, and it's a 'clean' sound.
Of course, one reason you can feel the airflow across your entire right hand is the perforated, honeycomb-like outer shell, which has pretty large openings, so much so that they give you a clear view of the fan, right down to its label, wiring, and individual blades. The main reason the perforation is so prominent is that the Pulsar Feinmann F01 Noctua Edition is still a competitive mouse, which means it needs to fall into that ultralightweight category to be taken seriously. Even with the larger holes that extend to the underside of the mouse, the 73-gram weight sits on the heavier side for a competitive gaming mouse. On the plus side, the ergonomic right-handed shape is welcome for those who aren't huge fans of symmetrical gaming mice, and the premium-grade carbon composite outer shell remains impressively rigid while also feeling stronger than a wide range of mice without any perforation at all.
With or without its fan, the Pulsar Feinmann F01 Noctua Edition is a premium-feeling gaming mouse, and if it weren't for the fan, the flashiest part of the design would have to be its alloy scroll wheel. Yes, it's metal, and yet it still feels more responsive and comfortable than many rubberized or softer scroll wheels we've come across. It's a small thing, in the grand scheme of things, but another element of the design that feels like it was carefully constructed. The same sentiment applies to the wireless dongle, called the LINK receiver here, which is often viewed as an afterthought or something to tuck away under your display.
Like most gaming mice, the Pulsar Feinmann F01 Noctua Edition features a dedicated DPI switch button on the underside. This design choice has always felt like an afterthought, so it's refreshing to see the LINK receiver include two buttons that act like a second left- and right-click combo, with step-based LED indicators and customizability. Having one dedicated to DPI settings and the other as a customizable function button is fantastic. The functions cover everything from switching profiles to adjusting the polling rate, LOD, and even fan speeds. And when it comes to fan speeds, the Pulsar Feinmann F01 Noctua Edition includes fan controls built into the design, where pressing both side buttons lets you use the scroll wheel to adjust the speed or turn the fan off.

Although the 42,000 DPI sensitivity isn't the highest out there, pairing it with 800 IPS tracking accuracy and speed, plus 70G acceleration support, puts it firmly in the pro-gaming realm. The XS-2 Flagship Sensor also supports 8K (8,000Hz) polling over low-latency wireless, angle-snapping, customizable lift-off distance (LOD), and fine-tuned DPI adjustments in 1-point increments. It can also track on a wide range of surfaces, with its accuracy and performance not limited to mousepads - though a high-quality pad is still recommended for competitive play.

In addition to the XS-2 Flagship Sensor, you've also got Pulsar's optical switches, which are rated at 100 million clicks, and a 32-bit ARM processor. The switches, sensor, processor, and encoder work together to deliver reliable, accurate performance, with an added crisp acoustic layer thanks to the carbon composite materials.
Software
Pulsar's intuitive web-based Bibimbap app handles customization for the Pulsar Feinmann F01 Noctua Edition. As Pulsar collaborates with pro players, the granular control it gives you makes sense, as does the speed and overall cleanliness of the UI design. The default, or opening, tab covers button remapping and setting up one of four profiles. As a competitive mouse with 5 customizable buttons, your choices are relatively limited. However, you still have in-depth control over assigning different functions or creating, assigning, and fine-tuning different macros to suit different applications.
The performance section is probably the most impressive (and the one you'll tinker with the most), as this is where you'll find settings and options for DPI sensitivity, polling rate, LOD, debounce time, fan speed, and more. It's all impressive, from the ability to independently adjust X/Y DPI settings through to the ability for gamers who play with their mouse at an angle to set and define a mouse rotation angle. The web-based Bibimbap app is up there in terms of customization and features, as you've also got the option to enable a Turbo Mode in addition to an 8KHz polling rate, which has the mouse sensor scan 20,000 times per second to reduce input lag. Granted, it also drains the battery faster.
The app also includes a dedicated section for the LINK receiver and dongle, letting you choose from seven options for the dedicated function button, with an explanation for each. Being able to set the function button to switch between the various polling rates, fan speeds, or act as a dedicated Turbo Mode button is handy, and it highlights just how clever it is to offload some of the secondary functionality that gets cut from a competitive mouse's simple physical design to something like the dongle. The web-based Bibimbap app also includes several power-saving options, making it the complete package.
Gaming and Productivity Performance

It's hard to argue that a fan is a critical component of a competitive gaming mouse. Still, after spending several days with the Pulsar Feinmann F01 Noctua Edition, it always felt better or more comfortable to use when the fan was activated - even on the lowest speed setting. Of course, when it comes to gaming, it's the XS-2 Flagship Sensor, optical switches, and other hardware that factor into the overall performance - which is flawless here. From accuracy to speed, the Pulsar Feinmann F01 Noctua Edition lives up to its premium promise when playing Counter-Strike 2 and Overwatch; however, the 73-gram weight and perforated shell did take some getting used to.
The perforated shell style can be hit or miss because you can always feel the holes and gaps, which detracts from comfort. With the Pulsar Feinmann F01 Noctua Edition's perforation being on the larger side, it's more noticeable here, with the upside being that it helps the airflow from the fan hit your palm. Perhaps the more noticeable issue is that even with its 500 mAh battery, when you've got 8,000Hz polling enabled and the fan speed set to high or the second-highest setting, you've only got a full day or two of charge before you have to plug in. The fact that it lasts a full day of gaming with 8K polling and the fan blasting is impressive, but this isn't the sort of competitive mouse that you only need to charge once a week or once a fortnight.
Productivity Performance
With its relatively large dongle and no Bluetooth support, the Pulsar Feinmann F01 Noctua Edition's versatility as a productivity mouse is limited. Of course, this is a wireless mouse built for gaming. When connected to a dedicated PC or rig used for both gaming and productivity, you get decent all-round performance thanks to the impressive sensor and lightweight build. Granted, the integrated fan is useful here too, as it can keep your palm cool even when you're not gaming.

After spending considerable time with it, we've gotten used to feeling the fan gently do its thing. For competitive gamers with a rig that includes Noctua cooling, the Pulsar Feinmann F01 Noctua Edition makes sense, and we'd go so far as to recommend it as a fantastic option. For everyone else, with so many competitive options at this price point with lighter, more comfortable builds, it's one to consider rather than put straight at the top of the list.
