Ohio university gives scholarships to best Fortnite players

Ashland University in Ohio will add Fortnite to scholarship list, joins League of Legends, Overwatch, CS:GO and Rocket League.

I still remember all of my teachers, parents and most of my friends when I was in high school tell me that "you will never make money playing video games", and look at how far we've come in the world of gaming.

Now we have Ashland University in Ohio announcing they will be adding Fortnite to their roster of competitive eSports program, something that will launch in the fall. Fortnite other eSports games like League of Legends, Overwatch, CS:GO, and Rocket League where AU offers a $4000 scholarship in eSports.

Ashland University's eSports head coach Josh Buchanan said in a press release: "Fortnite appeals to both the core and casual gaming audience. We're excited to provide this platform for gamers who want to showcase their skills in a more competitive space. Fortnite facilitates an environment that allows players to get creative, innovate and show off their mastery of their skills".

Ashland isn't cheap with a full-price of $31,284 for entry into their undergraduate program with room and board on-campus, with a $4000 scholarship an incentive to eSports gamers who wish to attend Ashland University.
