In an update to the official Kickstarter page for Shenmue 3, Project Director Yu Suzuki explained: "I know you are all eagerly anticipating the release of Shenmue III, however, we unfortunately must delay its release. We are moving ahead with a plan to release the game in the second half of 2018. Details will be revealed in the backer report later this month".

With more time, Shenmue 3 will hopefully utilize new APIs and technologies between now and 2H 2018, but it's still disappointing to see it delayed. Sigh.
