While we might have seen quite a bit of the in-game world of GTA 6, Rockstar Games has stayed tight-lipped about who's voicing the cast in the real world. Fans finally have their first confirmed name, though, and it turns out the internet had already figured it out months ago.
Stephen Root, best known for voicing Bill Dauterive and Buck Strickland on King of the Hill, confirmed to the Associated Press that he's part of the GTA 6 cast. "Yeah, you're gonna see me in that," Root said. "It's coming out November 19th, is the latest I know of. But I think, from the first roll out of GTA that they were doing maybe almost a year ago, they had my character in there, and there were too many people who knew me from King of the Hill and my voice. So, I think that secret got divulged then."

Fans had already connected the dots after the game's second trailer featured a character whose voice sounded unmistakably like his. That character, Brian Heder, appears again in the recent GTA 6 Extended Look, offering advice to protagonist Jason. Rockstar's website describes Brian as "a classic drug runner from the golden age of smuggling" who still moves product through his boatyard with his third wife, Lori, and lets Jason live rent-free on one of his properties in exchange for help with local shakedowns.
Root didn't confirm the character by name in his AP interview, but the voice match and Rockstar's own character description line up cleanly. "I am so happy to be involved with it," Root added. "It's an amazing thing to look at."

Root has previously appeared in the Oscar-winning Get Out and the Emmy-winning Barry. He also voiced a supporting fish in the Finding Nemo video game and picked up an Emmy nomination this year for his role in Widow's Bay. Rockstar casting recognisable names in side roles isn't new, with the PS2-era GTA trilogy featuring actors like Samuel L. Jackson, Ray Liotta, and Kyle MacLachlan.
