Capcom launches an interesting new stylized virtual storefront to sell PC versions of its games.

When Capcom launched Capcom Town, a colorful, pixelated digital cityscape meant to be an interactive way to celebrate its 40th anniversary, I kept thinking "I hope this sticks around." Stuck around it has, and now Capcom Town has a fully-fledged storefront where fans can buy games directly from the Japanese publisher.
The so-called Capcom Town Store currently only sells Steam and GOG versions of PC games, including brand new releases like Pragmata and Resident Evil 9 Requiem. There's always some sort of licensing to work out with these kinds of storefronts, so it's possible that Xbox and/or PlayStation games may not show up as purchasable options on Capcom Town until a later date (if at all).
Considering that Capcom routinely discounts its games on Steam in an effort to drive up unit sales, the current prices on the Capcom Town Store aren't very compelling; older games like Dragon's Dogma 2, for example, are being sold at the full $70 base price. The publisher is offering discounts for bundles though, with a discount scheme that looks like this:
- Level 1 - Spend $30, buy 3 items, get 5% off
- Level 2 - Spend $50, buy 5 items, get 10% off
- Level 3 - Spend $100, buy 8 items, get 15% off
New users can also get a -10% off code with their first order, and another 7% off code for providing feedback about the Capcom Town Store.
Given that Capcom wants to sell 50 million+ games this year, we could see direct discounts offered via this storefront as the publisher chases this ambitious sales target.
