TL;DR: Samsung Electronics will supply 30,000 to 50,000 units of its advanced HBM3E 12-Hi memory to NVIDIA for use in liquid-cooled AI servers, including the upcoming Blackwell Ultra GPUs. This follows AMD's confirmed adoption of Samsung's HBM3E memory for its Instinct MI350 AI accelerators.

Samsung Electronics has confirmed its latest HBM3E 12-Hi memory has been picked up by NVIDIA, with the company to supply 30K to 50K units of the AI memory to NVIDIA in the "near future".

In a new report from Korean media outlet Alpha Economy picked up by @Jukanrosleve on X, NVIDIA and Samsung Electronics reportedly agreed on the supply of HBM3 12-Hi memory. It's being reported that all of the Samsung HBM3E 12-Hi memory supplied will be used exclusively in liquid-cooled AI servers.

Samsung said in regards to its HBM3E 12-Hi memory supply being used exclusively in AI servers: "we cannot confirm this".

AMD has already confirmed it is using Samsung's new HBM3E 12-Hi memory for its new Instinct MI350 series AI accelerators, which was a relief in June 2025 when the news was announced, as Samsung had yet to receive certification by NVIDIA for its new AI memory.

Samsung's new HBM3E 12-Hi memory will be used on NVIDIA's new GB200 "Blackwell Ultra" AI GPUs, after Samsung Electronics Vice Chairman and Head of the Device Solutions (DS) division Jeon Yeong-hyeon met with NVIDIA regarding its new memory. It was reported that discussions occurred regarding Samsung's HBM3E 12-Hi memory supply, and its next-gen HBM4 memory gearing up for 2026.

A source familiar with the discussions said at the time: "They emphasized that the quality of their 4th-generation 10-nanometer-class DRAM (1a)-based 12-stack HBM3E, which features an improved base and core die, is not inferior to competitors, and they discussed the possibility of supplying it for the Blackwell Ultra, which will ship in large quantities next year." The source added, "Internally, Samsung is expecting a positive outcome, as their product is not numerically inferior in quality and they now have a track record of supplying customers like AMD".
