Ubisoft is reportedly developing a live action TV series based on the Far Cry series, new reports indicate.

Remember those epic Far Cry 3 shorts starring Michael Mando as Vaas? While Ubisoft used those live action snippets to advertise Far Cry 3 years ago, it sounds like the studio wants to do the same thing again. Only this time it'll be a big-budget TV show that advertises the entire Far Cry franchise.
Two days ago, Ubisoft accidentally posted up the Far Cry TV show announcement on their site. While we couldn't find an archived version of the page, descriptions of the TV show popped up online, revealing that the Far Cry series will be an anthology show with It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia creator Rob Mac (former McElhenney) at the helm.
According to the small bits of info that we could find, the Far Cry show is akin to shows like Black Mirror, Tales from the Crypt, and The Twilight Zone where stories don't overlap, but on a seasonal basis. The show is an "anthology drama [...], each season will be set in a new world with a different cast of characters following the video game franchise's signature standalone storytelling format."
Ubisoft has worked with Rob Mac in the past to develop the gaming-centric show Mythic Quest for Apple TV+.
More snippets from the press release announcement have surfaced:
Mac (It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Mythic Quest, Welcome to Wrexham) and Hawley (Fargo, Alien: Earth) are the co-creators of the Far Cry series. Hawley will also serve as showrunner, while Mac is set to star in the show.
The series will be executive produced by Mac, Hawley, and Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions; Michael Garcia for 26Keys Productions; Nick Frenkel for 3Arts Entertainment; and Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.
"This collaboration is really an embarrassment of riches. Far Cry is a psychological tailspin that doesn't shy away from the darkest and most absurd parts of humanity, which aligns perfectly with FX's bold and fearless storytelling style," said Margaret Boykin, head of film and television content, Ubisoft Film & Television.
