LG Display has just unveiled the industry's first Primary RGB Tandem technology, which stacks the three primary colors of light (red, green, and blue) as independent layers.

The new technology was shown off at LG Display's booth at the K-Display 2025 event at COEX in Seoul, South Korea, with the company showcasing innovative technologies and products ranging from large, medium, and small-sized panels to automotive displays.
At the booth's entrance, visitors were welcomed to LG Display's mammoth 83-inch OLED panel featuring fourth-generation OLED technology, which the company unveiled earlier this year. The new fourth-generation OLED achieves a maximum brightness of 4000 nits based on the new Primary RGB Tandem technology.
LG Display was showing a comparison of the previous generation's picture quality with the new fourth-generation OLED panels using ultra-large-sized panels, highlighting the incredible three-dimensionality and rich color reproduction using the new Primary RGB Tandem technology.
The company also teased its new 27-inch 1440p OLED gaming panel which rocks along at a monster 540Hz refresh rate, with its gaming mode knocking down the resolution to 1080p but amping up the refresh rate to an uber-smooth 720Hz refresh rate, with more on that in the link above.
An LG Display official explains: "The LG Display-led technological evolution of OLED is changing the paradigm of displays. We will secure sustainable technological competitiveness and provide differentiated customer value by not only bringing commercial technologies to maturity but also solidly preparing R&D capabilities for future technologies".
