TL;DR: WB Games is restructuring after losing $300 million in 2024 due to underperforming live-service titles like Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League. Despite setbacks, they seek an executive producer for a new unannounced AAA live-service DC Comics game, emphasizing ongoing player engagement and industry trend awareness.

WB Games is currently going through restructuring after some absolute flops of releases, which include titles such as Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, MultiVersus, and Harry Potter Quidditch Champions. These titles, and a myriad of other problems, resulted in the publisher losing as much as $300 million in 2024, with $200 million of that $300 million being attributed to Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League.

With all of those titles being live-service games, one would think that WB Games would give the genre a breather and concentrate on honing the scope of their games to make consistent, profitable single-player titles. However, that doesn't appear to be the case, as WB Games is currently looking for an executive producer for an unannounced AAA live-service game based on DC Comics.

Notably, this listing comes after WB Games closed Middle-earth Shadow of War/Mordor studio Monolith Productions, which was working on a Wonder Woman game using the famed Nemesis System. The job listing was recently discovered by Tech4Gamers and states the position would be responsible for "oversee post-launch content and live service strategy, ensuring ongoing player engagement."

Additionally, it states the position would require the individual to stay "informed on industry trends and player expectations to keep the game competitive and relevant." The qualifications for the position also require the individual to have experience with live-service games. So, what could this title be? And what character could it be based on? At the moment, that remains unclear, but it doesn't appear to be for a new Batman game as Rocksteady is currently developing that title.
