Apple has confirmed that it has purchased its first video game studio, which consists of two developers behind a popular Apple Arcade title.

Digital Trends has reported that Apple has acquired RAC7, a two-person team that is behind the Apple Arcade title Sneaky Sasquatch. Apple informed the publication that the acquisition has gone through, with an Apple spokesperson writing, Apple loves Sneaky Sasquatch, and that the company is excited the RAC7 team has joined Apple to continue working on the title. Moreover, the acquisition was done to assist the two developers in growing their team and expanding Sneaky Sasquatch on Apple Arcade further.
RAC7 was founded in 2014 by Jason ennis and Jesse Ringrose, and while Apple's aquisition of the company marks its first purchase of a video game studio, it's not indicative of a new plan for Apple to scoop up major developers, as it informs the publication the RAC7 purchase was due to a unique circumstance. Notably, Apple still plans to work with many third-party studios to increase the number of games on Apple Arcade.
"We love Sneaky Sasquatch and are excited that the 2-person RAC7 team has joined Apple to continue their work on it with us. We will continue to deliver a great experience for Apple Arcade players with hundreds of games from many of the best game developers in the world," said an Apple spokesperson to Digital Trends
Despite this acquisition not being indicative of a new push to purchase multiple developers, at the very least it shows Apple is committed to maintaining and expanding its offerings on Apple Arcade.
