Intel has demoed its next-generation Core Ultra 300 laptop CPU family, codenamed Panther Lake at Computex 2025. Intel didn't give too much away when it comes to performance, but it was confident enough to show off demo systems running DaVinci Resolve, indicating the development of the chips is well advanced, with at least 7 months to go before systems hit the shelves.

The chips were shown running on validation platforms. Both systems had copper heatsinks and fans, yet with so many months to go before launch, there is surely a lot of work still to do, particularly on the BIOS side of things.
Intel wasn't entirely closed-lipped regarding performance though, saying that its aiming for Arrow Lake-H performance, while maintaining the power efficiency of Lunar Lake.
Intel showed off the actual Panther Lake silicon, which consists of five tiles. The Compute Tile is the largest, and will feature various combinations of Cougar Cove P-Cores and Darkmont E-Cores depending on the SKU. The GPU tile is expected to contain an Xe3 'Celestial' GPU. Then there are SOC and IO tiles, while the fifth tile is likely to be a filler or dummy tile.

Panther Lake is built on Intel's 18A process. In contrast to Arrow Lake, Intel is aiming to produce Panther Lake entirely in-house instead of relying on TSMC. After several challenging years, Intel appears confident in its 18A node, not only for its next-gen plans, but for attracting customers too.

As is the case for nearly everything at Computex 2025, AI capabilities will be a critical pillar of Panther Lake's performance. The NPU will also be upgraded, and is expected to easily meet the minimum 50 TOPS requirement for Microsoft Copilot certification.
Panther Lake is scheduled to enter mass production in the second half of 2025, with notebooks expected to reach the market in early 2026.
