TL;DR: Mafia, Mafia II, Mafia III, and Mafia: Definitive Edition are now available on NVIDIA GeForce NOW, enabling cloud gaming on up to a GeForce RTX 4080. Mafia: The Old Country will launch on April 8, 2025, on PC and debut on GeForce NOW day one, too, continuing the iconic crime saga with a 1900s Sicily setting.

Mafia, Mafia: Definitive Edition, Mafia II, and Mafia III are now all playable on GeForce NOW, NVIDIA's streaming service, where you can game on a cloud-based GeForce RTX 4080. This announcement arrives alongside the latest gameplay trailer for Mafia: The Old Country, which is set to launch on April 8, 2025, on PC (Steam). As part of the big mafioso library of games coming to GeForce NOW, Mafia: The Old Country is set to arrive on the service on day one.

Although its visuals are now dated, the original Mafia is still a classic PC game.

Although its visuals are now dated, the original Mafia is still a classic PC game.

This is a cool addition because it includes over two decades of games in a long-running series, with the original Mafia dating back to 2002. To put that into context, this is the year when Microsoft pushed its brand-new Windows XP operating system while most of us were still running Windows 98. It's also the year of the GeForce 4 series of graphics cards. For its time, the original Mafia was considered one of the most visually impressive games ever made, thanks to its digital recreation of a bustling fictional New York-inspired Empire Bay set in the 1930s.

Mafia: Definitive Edition, which was released in 2020, is an impressive, built-from-the-ground-up faithful remake of the original Mafia, so it's great to see both versions of the game supported on GeForce NOW.

For fans of the series, like me, the original game and 2010's Mafia II are easily the most memorable entries. Mafia II stands out with its Goodfellas-inspired story that builds on the original's slower Godfather-like take on organized crime in America. 2016's Mafia III received a mixed reception from fans and critics due to its move toward a less structured and repetitive open-world game. Thankfully, Mafia: The Old Country will see the series return to its roots with a story set in 1900s Sicily and a return to the more linear and cinematic presentation of the first two games.
