The Assassin's Creed franchise was kicked off with Altaïr, but you could argue Assassin's Creed didn't become a household name until Assassin's Creed II, when players took control of Ezio Auditore.
Assassin's Creed II debuted in 2009, and since then, Ezio Auditore has been renowned as one of, if not the most iconic protagonists of the Assassin's Creed franchise, arguably being the springboard the franchise needed to get to where it is today. And now he is coming back, unfortunately, not in a mainline Assassin's Creed game, but in another title where he will be joined by the two main protagonists from Assassin's Creed Odyssey, Kassandra and Alexios.
The title is called Reverse: 1999, and the collaboration is a franchise-first for Assassin's Creed, with the three main protagonists of the mainline Assassin's Creed games being added into the turn-based RPG that has amassed a staggering 30 million players since it launched in October 2023. Here's how it's going to work. The collaboration will be split into two phases, with the first being in Renaissance Florence, the location where players first met Ezio Auditore in 2009, and the second will be Ancient Greece for Alexios and Kassandra.
Phase I: Players will unfold the story in Renaissance Florence, following Vertin and her allies to follow cryptic clues across the streets of 15th-century Italy.
Phase II: The story shifts to mythic ancient Greece, where Vertin's team gets caught in familiar events from Assassin's Creed Odyssey.
