GTA 6 is now releasing on May 26, 2026, with Rockstar stating in a recent announcement, "We need this extra time to deliver at the level of quality you expect and deserve."

On the heels of the Rockstar announcement is a statement from Take-Two Interactive Chairman and CEO, Strauss Zelnick, who said the publisher "fully supports" the decision to take additional time to complete the development of GTA 6 and fully realize Rockstar's intended creative vision. Moreover, Zelnick said GTA 6 is promised to be a "groundbreaking, blockbuster entertainment experience that exceeds audience expectations."
