The biggest question in gaming right now is by far "what is the release date for Grand Theft Auto VI," and that question has been partially answered by the CEO of franchise.
Strauss Zelnick, the CEO of Take-Two Interactive, the publisher of the Grand Theft Auto franchise has sat down for an interview where he was asked about the secrecy surrounding the launch date for GTA 6, especially considering many competing franchises reveal their release dates so early in their development.
Zelnick responded carefully to question, saying "the anticipation for the title may be the greatest anticipation i've ever seen for an entertainment property." Adding, "And i've been around the block a few times. I've been in every entertainment business there is."
The CEO of Take-Two continued, "We want to maintain the anticipation and the excitement and we do have competitors that will describe their release schedule for years in advance and we found the better thing to do is to provide marketing materials relatively close to the release window in order to create that excitement - on the one hand - and balance the excitement with unmet anticipation."
Judging from these comments from Zelnick we can expect the marketing for GTA 6 to begin a few months before the release of GTA 6, which is scheduled to release sometime in the Fall of 2025. What these marketing materials will be is anyone's guess, but it will presumably be the second trailer for the title, which judging by Take-Two's previous marketing scheduled for past titles, is already due for release.
However, given these recent comments by Zelnick past marketing schedules for Take-Two titles are no longer a reference point as the publisher has seemingly now changed its approach to much shorter marketing timelines. It's now anyone's guess as to when the next marketing material for GTA 6 will release. It could be April, May, or just one month before release.
