CD Projekt Red, widely recognised for its work on The Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk 2077, has gradually expanded its creative output beyond gaming - most notably with Cyberpunk: Edgerunners. According to its co-CEOs, the company now aims to take that direction even further.

In an interview with Polish outlet XYZ, CD Projekt chiefs Michał Nowakowski and Adam Badowski reflected on the company's early ambitions as it worked to establish itself as a premier studio in the gaming industry.
"We once dreamed of becoming the producer of the best RPG games in the world," Nowakowski told XYZ. "Over time, we realized that this can only be done for a very short time after the game is released."
Following the release of Cyberpunk 2077, and with The Witcher 4 in development, the company's ambitions have grown. While gaming remains central, the potential for creative projects in other mediums - like film, animation, and television - is becoming increasingly appealing.
"We want to become a global creator of pop culture and entertainment - with games at the center. It can be anything: a film, a series, an animation, a book, etc."

Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, the studio's anime project released on Netflix, was widely considered a major success, holding a 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes and an 8.3 on IMDb. The studio's storytelling clearly extends beyond games - in fact, the anime is credited with driving renewed interest in Cyberpunk 2077 itself.
"Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, the anime series that we produced in partnership with the Japanese studio Trigger and which debuted on Netflix back in 2022, is just a foretaste of what we have planned for the coming years."
With its venture into television, and established collaborations with high-profile actors like Keanu Reeves and Idris Elba, some of the pieces are already in place for a possible Cyberpunk film. Elba himself has publicly voiced support for the idea.
"I think Keanu Reeves' character and my character together would be, 'Whoa.' So, let's speak that into existence," Elba told ScreenRant.
Whether it's a Cyberpunk movie, a new book, or a live-action series remains to be seen - but one thing's clear: CD Projekt has plenty of irons in the fire.
