TL;DR: Roblox creators earned $1.7B via DevEx in the year ending June 30, 2026, but distribution is uneven: top 10 averaged $65.7M while the median creator made ~$1,500. Roblox Everywhere will let creators publish standalone apps across devices with cross-play; browser play and offline single-player, AI Build growth, and safety scrutiny were also noted.

Roblox is a household name when it comes to gaming, and its ever-growing library of experiences is what keeps the platform going after more than a decade. However, while you might expect Roblox's game creators to be swimming in millions of dollars, and some certainly are, the money isn't spreading evenly.

According to numbers shared at the Roblox Developers Conference in San Jose, creators earned approximately $1.7 billion through the Developer Exchange program over the 12 months ending June 30, 2026, up around 50% year over year. Since DevEx launched in 2013, total creator earnings have now crossed $5 billion.

Roblox's top 10 biggest creators averaged $65.7 million each over that period, nearly double the $33.9 million average from the previous report. The top 100 averaged $10.8 million, while the top 1,000 averaged $1.4 million. Roblox didn't publicly identify the 10 creators behind the $65.7 million average, but pointed to games like Grow a Garden and Steal a Brainrot as examples of "breakout success," with both surpassing 20 million concurrent players. In August 2026, 28% of Roblox's top 100 games by hours played had launched within the previous 90 days.

Further down the list, the picture changes sharply. More than 42,000 creators participate in DevEx, and the median creator received approximately $1,500 over the same 12-month period. In other words, half of participating creators earned that amount or less for the entire year. To bridge that gap between the top and the middle, Roblox is now rolling out its biggest platform expansion yet.

The initiative is called Roblox Everywhere, and it will allow creators to publish their games as standalone apps on mobile, PC, and consoles, while Roblox handles the rest. Which specific storefronts will carry these games has not been confirmed, though Roblox says the goal is to support all major platforms, starting with a limited test.

Roblox did confirm that cross-play will be enabled by default, meaning players using standalone apps can join friends in the main Roblox app. Alongside Roblox Everywhere, the company announced two other expansions. By the end of 2026, players will be able to join Roblox games directly through Chrome from a link with no installation required, with other browsers to follow. Offline single-player modes are also coming, with early access arriving soon and a full rollout planned for mid-2027.

Roblox is also lowering the technical barrier to creating experiences on the platform. The company said its AI-powered Build tool has helped publish around 9,000 games, and 71% of creators who used the tool had never used Roblox Studio before.

That said, Roblox continues to face scrutiny over child safety, alongside multiple lawsuits and a US Senate investigation. Even during RDC 2026, a YouTuber wearing a "kids deserve better" shirt ran onto the stage during CEO David Baszucki's keynote before being removed.
