Despite how far gaming has come, as the GTA 6 extended look reminded us all this week, one milestone still remains unchecked. There is still no official Android version of Grand Theft Auto V. Rockstar has shown no real interest in bringing GTA V to mobile, so with no movement from the big dogs, a community developer has now stepped up to take on the challenge.
The project comes from M0jso of Paralympics Productions, who some of you might recall as the developer behind the recent unofficial GTA V port for the original Nintendo Switch. The developer confirmed on Discord that an unofficial Android port of Grand Theft Auto 5 is now in the works.
Popular Now: Kojima shares details on Sony breakup, says PlayStation abruptly cancelled PHYSINT months agoUnlike running the Windows version through Winlator, this project is intended to run GTA V natively on ARM hardware. The Switch port uses GTA V Legacy 1.0.2699, recompiled for Nintendo's ARM-based Tegra X1 and reportedly based on the GTA V source code leaked in 2023. Since the Android work comes from the same developer and follows the Switch port, it likely uses the same codebase.
The developer has also outlined minimum system requirements to run GTA V on Android. A Snapdragon 865, 8GB of RAM, and 65GB of storage are the floor, with the first public version supporting Snapdragon hardware only. The broader compatibility list covers Snapdragon 782G, 865, 870, 888, and newer Snapdragon 7 and 8 series chips, extending through Snapdragon 8 Elite parts and Qualcomm's G-series and XR platforms. Chips below a Geekbench 6 single-core score of 1069 are placed in a separate group marked as capable but without a performance guarantee.

Several Samsung Exynos chips with Xclipse graphics fall into the unsupported-for-now category, including the Exynos 1480, 1580, 2200, 2400, 2400e, 2500, and 2600. Mali GPU devices will be supported at some point, but not for the first Snapdragon-focused build.

There is also bad news for Google Pixel owners. Tensor devices using PowerVR graphics and Helio platforms are listed as not planned, meaning Pixel 10 and Pixel 11 series users are out of luck. MediaTek Helio chips are also unsupported.
