Xbox and Ikea's marketing deal has extended to free Skyrim mods, injecting actual Ikea products directly into Bethesda's best-selling RPG.
In one of the most unpredictable and truly bizarre moves that we've seen in modern gaming, somehow, some way, Ikea has a talking shelf mod for Skyrim. Microsoft and Ikea recently teamed up to bring Xbox into the real world with products like analog stick decorations and D-Pad pillows. But no one expected Kallax Storageborn.
So...what exactly is going on? Ikea sells a brand of shelves called Kallax, and for some reason, Bethesda has created an official Skyrim mod that adds a talking Ikea Kallax shelf into the game as a fully-voiced companion with a unique quest. Kallax Storageborn has tons of inventory space, too. It gets even weirder: Matt Berry, the comedian from hit TV series What We Do in the Shadows, does the voice for Kallax Storageborn.

This collaboration is definitely on the stranger side, and while it's not necessarily a perfect fit, there is something to be said about organizing clutter in Bethesda games. Objects are such a big part of these titles that Bethesda created a dedicated "clutter team" that's responsible for placing various items, decorations, consumables, etc throughout game worlds.
The mod is currently available on the Skyrim Creations site as a free download.
