DLSS 5 is NVIDIA's most ambitious version of DLSS to date, but it also is one of its most limiting as of late, lacking support for DLSS overrides (which were introduced with DLSS 4), and requiring RTX 50 series GPUs to run it. Luckily, the modding community has been busy working on a new version of DLSS Swapper called DLSS 5 Swapper that doesn't have any of the aforementioned restrictions, while also streamlining DLSS 5 modding for mainstream gamers. The new Swapper app was published on GitHub by rankanki911.
The new DLSS 5 Swapper takes all the complexity out of modding DLSS 5 in games manually by incorporating all the required tools and files through a simple user interface. Users can drag and drop games directly into DLSS 5 Swapper where the app will automatically add all the necessary files to get DLSS 5 working in-game. The app can also automatically detect games installed on a user's PC, further automating the process.

DLSS 5 Swapper not only can upgrade DLSS-supported games, but can also implement DLSS 5 into games that don't have DLSS compatibility. This is done through "DLSS5-Feeder", a community mod that makes DLSS calls so DLSS 5 can be triggered in-game. This mod works with ReShade which provides its own depth buffer and optical-flow motion, two features that are required for DLSS to function properly.
The app's compatibility with non-DLSS games includes DirectX 9, 10, 11 and 12 titles, and even emulators, including Duckstation, PCSX2, Dolphin, PPSSPP, Xenia, Cemu and more. DLSS 5 Swapper also works with all RTX GPU hardware including RTX 20 and RTX 30 series GPUs, thanks to the work modders have done with DLSS 5 so far to get DLSS 5 working on older cards.
Modding DLSS 5 with this new utility will likely become one of the most popular ways to use DLSS 5 moving forward. NVIDIA's latest iteration of DLSS is one of its most locked down versions since DLSS 3 (before overrides were made official by NVIDIA), requiring in-game support and an RTX 50 series GPU to run it. Modding DLSS 5 will also give users access to developer-exclusive controls, allowing users to change the way a game looks to their liking. But as always, tread carefully when downloading third party software; DLSS 5 Swapper is not affiliated with NVIDIA in any way, so it is worth double checking the download page and download link for potential viruses.

DLSS 5 modding first started when a DLSS 5 DLL file was discovered in NBA 2K27's game files days before NVIDIA would officially launch the technology with the game. Hours after the file was discovered, modders were able to take that DLL file and successfully implement the mod into a variety of games using various tools including ReShade.
