In addition to a brand-new expansion, 'Songs of the Past,' CD Projekt RED has confirmed that The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt - Remastered is coming to all owners of the game as a free update on September 29. For PC gamers, this will introduce a massive overhaul to the game's visuals, along with various gameplay improvements.

On the visual side, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt - Remastered updates the game's foliage for a denser and more realistic look, overhauls the global illumination for more cinematic lighting, and updates various shaders with new features like sub-surface scattering to give the 2015 game a 2026 look.

And for PC gamers, especially those with GeForce RTX graphics cards, this remaster adds a path tracing mode. As seen in developer CD Projekt RED's Cyberpunk 2077, path tracing, or full ray tracing, leverages cutting-edge lighting to deliver more immersive global illumination, emissive lights, shadows, reflections, ambient occlusion, and more. To boost performance and image fidelity, the path tracing mode was developed with DLSS 4.5 in mind, including the brand-new DLSS 4.5 Ray Reconstruction.

As seen in the Witcher 3: Wild Hunt - Remastered trailer above, which features gameplay captured on a "high-end PC," the enhanced path-traced visuals look stunning while remaining true to the game's original art direction and style. In addition to DLSS 4.5 support, the remaster will also support AMD's FSR 4 for Radeon RX gamers and Intel's XeSS 2.0 for Arc graphics.
