TL;DR: A Reddit user (u/enigmussnake) bought an MSI GeForce RTX 5060 Ti 8GB at Walmart clearance for $242 ($266 with tax), far below the ~ $500 retail price elsewhere. Launched at $379, the 8GB card faces VRAM criticism, but current memory-driven price spikes make this clearance find a notable bargain.

A user on Reddit has seemingly picked up a GeForce RTX 5060 Ti for just $242 at a Walmart clearance section, which is well under half of what the card typically costs at other retailers right now.

The buyer, going by u/enigmussnake, posted the crazy find on r/gpu after spotting an MSI RTX 5060 Ti 8GB sitting in Walmart's clearance cage. With tax, the total came to close to $266, still a steep discount from the nearly $500 the card is currently going for elsewhere.

NVIDIA launched the RTX 5060 Ti 8GB at $379 last year, so even against the original MSRP, this is a solid deal. Against today's prices, driven up by ongoing memory shortages, it's an even better one. Retailers like Newegg currently list various RTX 5060 Ti 8GB models between $499 and $540, so this Walmart find represents a discount of well over 50%.

The 8GB variant of the RTX 5060 Ti has been criticized in the past for its limited VRAM, but that criticism looks a lot less relevant given where prices have gone. With 8GB GPUs now also commanding a premium due to the memory crunch, getting one for $242 is definitely a bigger win today than it would have been at launch.

We covered a similar story earlier this year where a different Redditor found an RTX 5060 Ti marked down to just $80 at another Walmart, apparently due to a pricing error. That case was more extreme, but it points to the same pattern: clearance sections at big-box retailers occasionally slip through with GPU pricing that doesn't reflect the current market.

Deals like these are largely down to luck and timing rather than anything buyers can plan around. Still, with GPU prices climbing across the board, it's a reminder that checking clearance shelves in person can occasionally turn up something that online listings won't show you.
