Kingston HyperX Fury 64GB USB 3.0 Flash Drive Review 99

Its certainly been quite some time since we have seen a new USB 3.0 flash drive come through the lab from Kingston. With that said, we end that today with the HyperX Fury in the 64GB capacity.

The HyperX Fury is Kingston's latest offering in its USB 3.0 line-up. This drive features marketing specifications of 90MB/s read and 30 MB/s write, while being compatible with Windows, OS X 10.6+ and Linux. This flash drive is also the first I have seen to list compatibility with gaming consoles including PS3, PS4 and Xbox 360.

MSRP of the Kingston HyperX Fury in the 64GB capacity is listed at $69.99 with a five-year warranty.

Price/Performance put the Fury right in the middle of the pack at 72%

The HyperX Fury is quite a surprising flash drive, seeing that the marketing numbers depicted just 90 MB/s reads and 30 MB/s writes, and then testing, and finding much higher performance within. Build quality is ample for the Fury, the cap for the drive fits snug and the plastics feel like they are put together rather well.

Performance, as mentioned above was startling. We reached 205 MB/s read and 114 MB/s write. Over on price/performance, the drive landed right in the middle of the pack at 72.6%, just below the SanDisk Extreme at 72.8%.
