Today Ubisoft announced that new Far Cry and Assassin's Creed games will release before March 2018, and promised info on the titles will come sooner than you'd expect.
In today's released financial report Ubisoft confirmed the new Far Cry game is a mainline sequel called Far Cry 5. However, company CEO Yves Guillemot didn't answer when asked if the Western-themed Far Cry rumors were true or not, but he did say gamers can expect more news on the game "very soon."
"We can't comment on rumors. But you'll get more information very soon on that game, so it will comfort you on its potential," Guillemot said during Ubisoft's financial earnings call with analysts and investors. "And we are extremely excited with what we're coming with."
It's possible that Far Cry 5 will be revealed before E3 2017 in June. Ubisoft's official website tells gamers to subscribe to its YouTube channel for updates on the game.
The publisher actually revealed South Park: Fractured But Whole's release date in a new YouTube video. It's possible Ubisoft could do something similar for Far Cry 5--perhaps it'll release a pre-E3 teaser trailer or something along those lines.

Furthermore, Ubisoft has confirmed that all of its new games will have integrated online-based live services. This isn't exactly a surprise given the company's push towards monetized digital-based longevity, but it's something to definitely remember.
Like previous Far Cry games, Far Cry 5 should have an online multiplayer component--possibly co-op based--and maybe even story co-op just like Far Cry 4. We could also see microtransactions released for multiplayer, along with new expansions and DLC-based content for the game.
Be sure to check our report on Far Cry 5's rumored western theme for more info on the possible setting for the new game. Reports say it could be tied to old west Montana, but other sources say it won't be western-themed because of Rockstar's massively anticipated Red Dead Redemption 2 that's due out in 2017.
If Far Cry 5 isn't revealed with a pre-E3 teaser, the publisher will announce the game at its E3 2017 press conference on June 12, 2017 at 1PM PST / 4PM EST.
