Samsung has unveiled their highly-anticipated flagship devices - the Galaxy S8 and S8+, and one of the biggest changes, design-wise, is the position of the fingerprint sensor.

The Galaxy S8's predecessors had the fingerprint sensor in the front of the device, but on the Galaxy S8 and S8+, the fingerprint sensor is in the back of the device, right next to the camera.

While numerous smartphones have the fingerprint sensor on the back, Samsung's positioning is a bit questionable since it is literally right next to the camera and users will certainly smudge the camera while trying to unlock the phone. Sure, you can also unlock your Galaxy S8 or S8+ via iris scanner or facial recognition, but that is not the point.

Samsung is aware of this, and they even put a warning in the camera app of the Galaxy S8 and S8+. When you setup the fingerprint sensor authentication, you will get a note in the camera app saying: "A clean lens makes for better shots. Clean your camera lens to keep taking better pictures."

This note will presumably appear periodically in the camera app.

What do you think, what's the best position for the fingerprint sensor: the back of the phone, the front, or the side of the phone?
