Well fast forward just a few months later and the situation is a little different. Perhaps to move it away from a blockbuster year including Star Wars Episode VII, The Avengers 2, and Jurassic Park 4, but more likely to give the production, including the writing/directing team of Roland Emmerich and Dean Devlin more time to set the project up, Twentieth Century Fox have delayed the project by a whole year - now blasting screens on July 1 2016.

Despite this set back, Roland Emmerich, now on the PR trail following the home video release of White House Down is adamant that Independence Day 2 is not only happening, but will be his next project.
