TL;DR: A Redditor says Walmart delivered four MSI GeForce RTX 5070 Ti 16GB cards after charging $1,099 for one. The shipment may be worth more than $5,000, but Walmart has not commented, and it's unclear whether the buyer reported the extra cards.

A Reddit user says Walmart sent them four RTX 5070 Ti graphics cards after they paid for just one. The Redditor, posting as u/deadmanwonderland_23, ordered a single MSI GeForce RTX 5070 Ti 16GB for $1,099, a price that beats most current listings for the card by over $100. Instead of one box showing up, four identical units apparently did.

The card in question looks to be MSI's Frieren Beyond Journey's End special edition, which sells for $1,259 on MSI's own store. Four of those would put the total value of the shipment north of $5,000, against a single payment of $1,099. It's not clear whether the buyer has told Walmart about the extras yet, or whether Walmart even knows.

Shipping mistakes that work out for the buyer aren't rare, and big retailers often just let people keep the extra units rather than deal with the hassle of getting them back. Walmart hasn't said anything about this particular case, so there's reason to hold off on drawing firm conclusions until more comes out. GPU prices have kept climbing through 2026, which probably makes a story like this more interesting than it would have been a couple of years back, especially for a card that already sits well above most people's budgets.

Frequently Asked Questions

Open a question for an answer from TweakTown's coverage of this news, or ask your own below.

Question #1

How does MSI’s $1,259 listing for the Frieren edition compare with Walmart’s $1,099 order price?

MSI listed the Frieren edition for $1,259, which is $160 more than the Redditor's $1,099 Walmart order price. The card in the shipment appeared to be that special edition, but its identification was not confirmed.
Question #2

How does Walmart handle orders that arrive with more items than the customer purchased?

Walmart has not said how it will handle the order in which a customer reportedly received four graphics cards after buying one. It is unclear whether the customer has told Walmart about the extras or whether Walmart knows about them.
Question #3

What similarities and differences have been reported between Walmart’s RTX 5070 Ti shipment and Amazon’s Intel Core i5-14400 shipment?

Both customers reportedly received more than they ordered: the Walmart buyer paid $1,099 for one MSI GeForce RTX 5070 Ti and received four, while a Japanese Amazon customer ordered one Intel Core i5-14400 and received five. The Amazon mix-up was apparently caused by a worker scanning a bulk carton barcode instead of an individual box; the cause of the Walmart shipment is unknown.

Interestingly, this isn't the first time an order has gone sideways like this. A Japanese Amazon customer who bought one Intel Core i5-14400 ended up with five, apparently because a warehouse worker scanned a bulk carton barcode instead of the individual box. We don't know if that kind of mix-up happened here or if there was a different error along the way, but it's definitely an interesting incident as retailers lean harder on automated fulfillment.
