Intel is reportedly working on a replacement for the Core i5-14600K featuring more CPU cores that will be released with its upcoming Raptor Lake Next CPU lineup. Spotted by VideoCardz, popular leaker Jaykihn on X claims that the mid-range Core i5-14600K will be replaced by a Raptor Lake Next CPU sporting eight P-cores and eight E-cores.
If true, Intel's i5-14600K replacement will have two additional P-cores, matching the Core i7-14700K in core count. Not only will this new Raptor Lake Next chip have more CPU cores than its Raptor Lake counterparts, but it will also have more P-cores than all of Intel's latest Core Ultra 5 series models.

Intel is following AMD's lead with AM4 by extending its LGA 1700 platform with another cycle of refreshed Raptor Lake CPUs codenamed 'Raptor Lake Next'. Intel's goal is to provide its customer base with a budget-friendly platform that still supports DDR4 amid the industry-wide DRAM shortage. Raptor Lake Next will reportedly debut early next year along with new LGA 1700 motherboards from Intel's partners. Intel will allegedly be using Raptor Lake Next to fill out any gaps in its 14th Gen lineup rather than replace its 14th Gen CPUs entirely (except for the i5-14600K if the leak is true). Besides the aforementioned eight P-core, eight E-core part that was leaked, Intel is also reportedly preparing more 125W and 65W desktop SKUs, with mobile SKUs also being planned as well.
