The new James Bond 007 First Light game is one of 2026's big AAA hits with 1.5 million copies sold in its first day of availability.

The new James Bond prequel is off to a strong start as the game reaches platinum sales in just 24 hours, highlighting yet another successful launch for the year. IO Interactive has always wanted to make a James Bond game, and their passion and dedication shines through the high-quality, cinematic machismo chaos that First Light offers to players.

Based on player reception, the studio has adequately captured a modern day Bond's suave and deadly prowess in game form, mixing big death-defying sequences with explosions, thrilling car chases, gun battles, and more set amid major set pieces ranging from mountains to mansions.

The game's sales see First Light joining other big sellers of the year, including titles like Pragmata (1 million in 2 days), Pokopia (2.2 million in 4 days), and early access games Windrose (1 million in 6 days) and Subnautica 2 (2 million in 12 hours).

A quick calculation shows that IO Interactive's new superspy simulator could have made at least $105 million in gross revenue, assuming all of those sales were the base $70 version of the game. The value is likely more given there's multiple versions being offered, and it's possible that the game has already become profitable--or is nearing profitability--due to the high sales.

Remember that IO doesn't keep all this money; there's licensing with MGM, as well as the fees that platform-holders like Valve, Epic, Sony, and Microsoft will take from every sale.
