The new PlayStation Days of Play sale discounts a bunch of products, including annual PS Plus subscriptions, giving gamers a prime opportunity to buy in.

New and lapsed subscribers can grab a full year of PlayStation Plus Premium for $108 in Sony's latest Days of Play sale, which is a lot more manageable than the original $159 per year. The annual event will likely spark a lot of sign-ups and re-subscriptions, especially for the Premium tier, which is priced so competitively against the Extra tier that users will only be spending an extra $7 for substantial benefits.
The discount also comes shortly after Sony raised the prices of all PlayStation Plus tiers in the United States and other regions. What's interesting about this move is that Sony only increased the prices of its 1-month and 3-month subscription tiers, leaving the 12-month options the same. It appears to be a move to push consumers towards the 12-month options in a bid for maximum engagement with the services--MAUs are important--as well as improved chances of recurring memberships through embedded investment.

PlayStation Plus discounts during Sony's Days of Play sale
- 12-month PS Plus Premium - $108 (-33%)
- 12-month PS Plus Extra - $101.24 (-25%)
- 12-month PS Plus Essential - $63.99 (-20%)
The sale ends June 10, so there's still plenty of time to grab a subscription.
When it comes to PS Plus, the service is a critical part of PlayStation's business (it actually always has been, but more so now than ever). The subscription trio helped PlayStation generate over $5 billion in revenue from its Network Services segment, and it's likely that the group will continue stressing digital services over time due to how lucrative they have become.
