Apple won't be releasing an iPhone 17 Plus this year, but instead will be dropping the iPhone 17 Air, a super cut-down iPhone that is incredibly thin and only has the bare minimum features.
A dummy unit of the iPhone 17 Air has made it out into the wild, and in a new video posted by Majin Bu, a known leaker, the upcoming iPhone has been compared to an iPhone 16 Pro. The video showcases the new incredibly thin design of the iPhone 17 Air, with previous reports pegging the width of the device at just 5.5mm. To keep to the minimalist feature set, Apple is dropping the multiple cameras on the iPhone 17 Air and only placing a single-lens camera module on the back inside a pill-shaped camera bar.
For comparison, the iPhone 16 Pro measures at 8.25mm thick, making the iPhone 17 Air nearly half the width of the previous generation Pro device. Additionally, the video shows an Action button on the left-hand side of the device above the two volume buttons, and on the right-hand side, the power button and below it what appears to be a Camera Control button.

Unfortunately, the video doesn't showcase the bottom of the phone, so we can't verify if the iPhone 17 Air will be using a USB-C port, but considering the last generation of iPhones all featured USB-C ports, it would be more shocking if the iPhone 17 Air didn't have a USB-C charging port. With the reduction in width, we can anticipate a smaller battery, but hopefully with software optimizations, the battery life of the device isn't worse than the iPhone 16 Plus.
