Will GTA 6 be delayed again? No one knows for sure, but Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick publicly telegraphs the game will release in May 2026 as intended.

Rockstar and Take-Two aren't ready to entertain the possibility of another Grand Theft Auto 6 delay, especially now that company stock is up. In a recent interview with CNBC, company CEO Strauss Zelnick said that he's pretty confident that GTA 6 will keep its summer 2026 launch.
"My level of conviction is very, very high, obviously," Zelnick responded when asked what his conviction level was on GTA 6's current release date.
Zelnick also said that Take-Two's stock uplift wasn't just solely because of Grand Theft Auto 6 hype. The jump instead reflects Take-Two's current performance on the market on a total level, and not just any one label (eg Rockstar Games).
"Everything related to GTA is meaningfully up year-over-year, so of course there's anticipation.
"Our job is to really deliver across the entire company, so actually I think the conversation right now and the stock movement now is a reflection of our underlying economics, which is the entire business. I don't think it's just based on what is to come in the future."
Interestingly enough, Zelnick also says that Rockstar Games is working on multiple things at once--which is true, including GTA Online and Red Dead Online content.
"Rockstar does have a lot of other things going on, but this is of course the primary focus."
GTA 6 is currently set to launch on May 26, 2026 on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.
