In one of the more bizarre moves we've ever seen in the computing world, Microsoft has released a themed take on its Surface Laptop, and the theme is the Smurfs.
Yes, there's another Smurfs movie (a live-action musical reboot) which recently hit the theaters in the US, and that has inspired the 'Smurface Edition' notebook - that and clearly Microsoft couldn't resist the terrible pun.
This laptop is being sold on Amazon in the US and as The Verge reports, apparently there are only 100 units available. Should you want one, the Smurface Edition is still in stock, at least at the time of writing, and it'll set you back $999.99.
For the money, you're getting a Surface Laptop 7 equipped with a Snapdragon X Plus (8-core) processor, alongside 16GB of system RAM and 512GB of storage.
It's not the garish affair you might expect, either, and in fact this Surface Laptop is somewhat understated - it's not a vivid blue, or decorated like a giant mushroom, or anything like that.
Microsoft has instead plumped for some Smurfs characters on the lid, with a blue Surface logo (that actually looks quite smart - I wouldn't mind that being adopted elsewhere in the firm's range).
Quite who will want a Surface Laptop like this, well, that's anyone's guess, and you're paying quite a premium. If you drop down to the same laptop, but the non-Smurfs version with half the storage (256GB), you'll pay $789 on Amazon.
So, it's over two hundred bucks for the extra 256GB of storage space and the Smurfs theme - but hey, if you're a fan, it might be worth the outlay.
