Amazon Prime members can grab some compelling games for free this month, as the retail giant has pulled out the big guns due to the Prime Day sale.
The freebies for July include Football Manager 2024 and the very much underrated Marvel's Midnight Suns, so there's a heavy dose of strategy, planning, and thinking between those two games.
Amazon is also offering Amnesia: The Dark Descent for free, and the classic Star Wars Jedi Knight: Dark Forces II.
All of those games will be free throughout July, with the exception of Football Manager 2024 which is only up for grabs until July 11. Furthermore, you'll get them all from the Epic Games Store, except for the Star Wars outing which is being provided via GOG.
If you're not familiar with Marvel's Midnight Suns, it's in the same vein as XCOM (and indeed was developed by Firaxis, a name you may be more familiar with thanks to the heavyweight strategy outings in the Civilization franchise).
Marvel's Midnight Suns is actually a clever blend of a few genres, principally XCOM, as noted, but there are also elements of Slay the Spire (card-based combat) and Persona here. Overall, it's a clever mix, but Midnight Suns flew very much under the radar when it was released (despite a good deal of critical acclaim). With it now being free, there's really no excuse not to give it a whirl if the sound of the game piques your interest at all.
Amazon also reminds us that the freebie games deployed for the lead-up to the Prime Day sale are still available for free. They include Saints Row IV: Re-Elected, Star Wars: Rebellion, Saints Row 2, Dungeon of the Endless Definitive Edition, and Tomb Raider I-III Remastered.
