TL;DR: The new Grand Theft Auto VI trailer showcases stunning, realistic graphics captured entirely on a standard PS5, highlighting Rockstar Games' technical achievements. With a May 26, 2026 console release, GTA 6's PC version is expected later, leveraging next-gen GPUs for enhanced performance and visual fidelity.

The new trailer for Grand Theft Auto VI has been released, and it's safe to say the graphics on display are absolutely stunning, possibly even nearing to uncanny-valley level. But what piece of hardware was used to capture these cinematics? A PC or a console?

Rockstar Games surprise dropped the second trailer for GTA 6 yesterday, and at the time of reporting, it has gained 75 million views in approximately 24 hours, falling short of the first trailer's record of 90 million views in 24 hours. However, the graphics on display in the second trailer supersede what we saw in the first trailer, with the cinematics that were on display highlighting the incredible work Rockstar has done in making GTA 6 look and feel as realistic as possible.

At the end of the trailer, it is briefly shown at the bottom of the release date frame that all of the footage was "Captured on PS5," meaning everything we saw throughout Trailer 2 was captured on a standard PS5, not even the PS5 Pro. This begs the question as to how good the game is going to look with the extra performance headroom on the PS5 Pro, and later, when it finally arrives on PC, as Rockstar will be able to take advantage of new, powerful graphics cards and their accompanying graphics technologies.

By then, new generations of GPUs will be released, and if historical timelines are anything to go by with Rockstar porting its games over to PC, we can expect GTA 6 to be launching on PC when NVIDIA has released the GeForce RTX 7000-series GPUs, as the 6000-series will be next year when GTA 6 releases on consoles and there is typically about a year between the console release and the PC release.

GTA 6 will be arriving on consoles on May 26, 2026.
