Nintendo has inadvertently confirmed a Switch 2 feature ahead of the console's official Direct showcase on April 2.

Today, Nintendo released a new smartphone app called Nintendo Today. It's basically a news app that keeps you updated with all the latest info from Nintendo, including game releases and more. Switch 2 news will also be a part of the app moving forward and Nintendo wants to serve you info directly to your phone without any intermediaries--including the press.
Nintendo Today! has popped up on the Android and iOS stores, and the promo images for the app on the App Store have accidentally revealed the Switch 2's mysterious new button. As expected, the Switch 2 will have a C-button, and it's rumored that it'll bring up a new on-screen panel of social features (C for "Campus" in this case). No one knows exactly what the button will be used for, though.
The slip-up is unusual for Nintendo, who has typically been extremely careful and secretive with its hardware information. But the world has changed over the years, and the Switch 2 was leaked quite ahead of schedule, complete with a fully accurate 3D mock-up of the tablet, controllers, and new dock.
Reports indicate that the Switch 2 will release sometime in June alongside a wave of first-party games. No pricing has been confirmed--that will come at the Switch 2 Direct--but speculation is that the device could cost $399 at release.
Nintendo will hold a special Switch 2 reveal showcase on April 2, 2025 at 9AM EST.
